Well Maybe I'm A Crook...

This last Tuesday I had the pleasure of kicking off my Summer Show Line Up with

(I didn't post right after because I went on a Mindy Project Season 1 binge, great show)

They were fantastic. Since this was their first album tour (My Head is an Animal) it was the basic run down of the album with the added bonus of covering Yeah, Yeah Yeahs Skeletons, and playing a song that didn't make the album. I think one of the more interesting parts was actually watching one of the bassists jam out on his own on the side stage. (Right side)

Even though it started out rainy, this was a great concert. I may have been soggy, it was worth every minute.

So I bring to you one of my favorites by Of Monsters and Men, Love Love Love

I think on of my favorite aspects of this band is that their music can be quiet, but it has a lot of beat, and presence.

ENJOY!

I Had A Hard Time...

So I am super excited to announce that Local Natives are touring. How freaking awesome?! I really hope to make it to their show. The current adventure I am on has locked down my show seeing abilities.

I fell in love with the Local Natives through my common outlet of new music which it NPR Tiny Desk Concerts. One of the leads has a fantastic mustache which lead me to intensely watch him sing/play his insturment. Their first album Gorilla Manor has some of the best road trip songs. Their sophomore album Hummingbird is still new to me. It has a slightly different vibe, but like all artists you have to grow. I really hope I get to see them live.

Here is two songs one from their new album and one of my favorites from the old album.

This wasn't the original one I was going to pick, but I think it really highlights the raw talent that the Local Natives have. In my opinion you have to be able to really kill it live.

I had a hard time picking one song from this album, because I love the whole thing.

Enjoy!

New Discovery

So I was perusing Youtube for something to catch my attention, and I came across Lucius. They have this 50's-60's feel. They girls dress alike as do the men. They have amazing harmonies, and I really think there is something to be said about the quite bits in the song. It is like the negative space in a piece of art. When you listen to this song I think you will understand what I am saying, even if it is only a brief moment.

Happy Mothers Day

ENjoy!

Spirits Trapped Inside The Linens...

So I have had a bit of a dry spell when it comes to music. I haven't discovered anything new in a while, besides Macklemore. Recently, I woke up with a lyric in my head,

"Thinking softly what a tinder box we live in, and what a flammable heart I have been given"

What a fantastic line. I like the idea that we live in a fragile stasis, and your heart can rule your actions. That your actions can burn that stasis to the ground.

Gowalla's Contest Winner for the Location Video- Brookography, did a beautiful rendition.

Enjoy!!

I Wish My Name Was Clementine

I love this song. I don't care for the video. I get such a different feel from the song, then the video. So I chose the non video, video. I actually ran across this song on Tumblr a few summers ago.

I love when I hear the songs that resonate with me in movies and shows. Recently, heard it in "Safety Not Guaranteed"  a fantastic movie about possibility, love, and time travel. It also was played in the Season 8 Finale of One Tree Hill.

Here is a link to the artists video.

This was a self portrait I did for Sketchbook Tour 2012, referencing this song.
Art House Co-Op, does this fantastic thing, in bringing many artists work, and showing it all around the country. They also do other projects, which helps keep creativity flowing.

Enjoy
